A three-dimensional scatter plot showing the relationship between charge, hydrophobicity, and predicted disorder of proteins. Data points are plotted as blue and green dots across three axes. A central pink dot highlights a specific data point.

How do cells turn on genes?

StallerLab combines experiments, computation and theory to study gene regulation. We focus on how transcription factors activate gene expression in yeast and human cells. With high throughput methods and machine learning, we study the relationship between protein sequence and function. We seek to understand the different types of transcriptional activation domains and the evolution of transcription factors.
